Who is putting on this conference?

The conference is a project of the No Kill Advocacy Center. It is an annual conference that it is done in partnership with the Animal Law Program at the George Washington University School of Law. It is sponsored by No Kill Nation.

What comes with the registration fee?

You get two full days of workshops, including the keynote and closing, a tote bag with books, guides, brochures and more, a raffle ticket for a chance at great prizes at the closing ceremony (must be present to win, other restrictions apply), breakfast and lunch on Saturday, a hosted bar and reception on Saturday night, coffee and snack service on Sunday morning and lunch. You are on your own for dinner. You must be present to receive the materials.

How do I get CLE (attorneys/paralegals) credits?

CLE is offered for attorneys/paralegals only from the U.S. and only for “legal track” seminars. When an attorney registers and requests CLE as part of the registration process, we apply for it in their state. In the past, we have been able to get CLE/CPE from every state in which we applied. With attendance from over 40 states, we are fairly confident this will not be an issue, however, we cannot guarantee it. In order to receive CLE, you must fill out and turn in the necessary forms onsite. For more information, contact us. We also offer a CPE certificate for other professionals attending legal track seminars.

Do you offer single day tickets or discounts?

We do not offer single day tickets, however, various discounts and promotions are available via the registration page and on our Facebook page.

Will there be a lot of walking?

Yes. The conference takes place on the campus of George Washington University which is an urban campus. Events will be held in three separate buildings, all within a block or two of each other. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Washington, D.C. can get very hot and humid in July. Please dress comfortably and casually. All GW facilities comply with the American Disabilities Act.

I’m vegan, will there be anything for me to eat?

Yes. All meals and snacks are suitable for vegans.

How should I dress?

Dress casually and comfortably with comfortable walking shoes.

I would like to network with people from my own state/region, how can I find out who they are?

Breakfast and lunch tables are listed by state. During meals, you will have an opportunity to network with people from your state. You can also reach out through the No Kill Conference Facebook page.

I would like to share a hotel room, how can I find out who else might want to?

You can join our Facebook community and post to that page. Simply go to facebook.com/nokillconference.

What airport should I fly into? What hotel should I stay at? What time should I depart?

Please visit the Trip Planning page of this website.

I’m driving, will there be parking?

On street parking is very difficult in Washington, D.C. There are meters but the maximum time allowed is limited and is not conducive to conference attendance, which goes all day. There are paid lots in the neighborhood, but please keep in mind these can be expensive. We suggest taking the metro. For more information, visit the Trip Planning page of this website.

I registered but never received any information in the mail. Should I be concerned?

After registering, you should have received an immediate confirmation by email from eventbrite. If you did not, check your spam folder or go on their website and verify that you have indeed registered. Moreover, all communication from us is by email. If you have not received any announcements, check your spam folder. To be safe, please join our Facebook community to stay up to date on changes in scheduling, latest weather, updates, and more.

I would like to exhibit my products. Do you rent exhibitor tables?

We do not. We have a small number of exhibitor tables which are reserved for sponsors of the conference.

Can I bring my dog? cat? other pet?

We love animals and if it was up to us, we’d say Yes! But it is not. University rules forbid companion animals in buildings, with the exception of service animals.

I cannot attend, will the workshops be recorded so I can view them later?

Unfortunately, no. We do make the hand outs available after the conference. Join our Facebook community to be notified when they are released by clicking here.

What happens if I register but am not able to attend, can I get a refund?

We do apologize, but we do not offer refunds. We realize unforeseen issues come up, which is why registration is transferable as long as you tell us in advance who is coming in your place. Please read the terms and conditions on the registration page and as part of the registration process before registering. You must be present to receive the materials.

I am a commercial business (photographer, conference planner, etc.) and would like to make you aware of my services. How can I do that?

Thank you for your interest, but we are not in need of any commercial services.

Do I have to plan which workshops I attend in advance and let you know?

No. We suggest reviewing the schedule in advance when it is posted and emailed to all registrants in early June, but you can decide any time and change your mind at any time. Please do note that due to speaker illness or conflict, the schedule, workshops and speakers may change. We’ll keep you updated if that happens.

I have read these FAQs and reviewed the other pages of this website, but my question is still not answered.
